This database includes relevant organisations and institutions involved in the gender and technology field and is used to inform journalists and networks in Europe. The main dissemination partner Competence Center Technology, Diversity and Equal Chances set up a database with various national and European contacts and networks to sustain widely spreading of the project. The following activities were executed in 2009. Additionally, all UPDATE partners published information on their own websites as well as printed material. Coordinators are the Competence Center Technology – Diversity – Equal Chances (Kompetenzz), Germany the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI), Spain and the project coordinator of Jyväskylä University (JYU), Finland. Dissemination activities were coordinated according to a task and time schedule that allowed enough flexibility for necessary adjustments required by the process of dissemination. The project dissemination addressed scientific media, science journalists, national and regional newspapers, television, radio and online-media. D7.1 Strategic Dissemination Plan The strategic dissemination plan was the foundation for the communication of the project’s work, especially communicating best practises, new learning material and scientific results to relevant target groups. Therefore, the project partners agreed on a strategic dissemination plan which has been constantly developed during the three years runtime of the project. Finally, the project aims at establishing new and intensifying existing European and national networks for continuous technology enhancement.
Besides the project aims at bringing new impulses to schools by communicating best practises, new learning material, and scientific results. The UPDATE project's aim is threefold: to examine why girls drop out from technology education at different stages of their education, to create new ways and educational methods to make technology and technological careers appear more attractive for both girls and boys, and to promote, encourage and mobilize especially girls and young women for engineering and technology both as a career, and as active users of modern technology.
